Lightning

Welcome.

There are few things in life that can capture such a range of emotional response as Lightning. It is simultaneously beautiful, powerful, awe inspiring, summoner of fear and fascination, and a vision of God made real yet fleeting. It is perhaps the most widely known natural phenomenon on the planet, viewable and known by every person on earth yet we are completely ignorant to its origin, cause, forms, and triggering. We are all witness to one of the greatest single unsolved mysteries of all time.

Lightning research started in earnest around the time of Benjamin Franklin, when Franklin created, and postulated a number of experiments that connected Lightning to electricity. Franklin used this knowledge to create the lightning rod, which 250 years later is the most common form of Lightning mitigation. It wasn't until the advent and advances in photography that scientists could actually take time to study the form of Lightning.

Lightning

It has been the advent and improvements in photography that have lead to the vast majority of our understanding of Lightning, from upper atmospheric lightning only confirmed by watching images taken by chance from the space shuttle, to the mysterious formation of stepped leaders which magically spring into existence 50 meters at a time, for reasons unknown and visible only at speeds greater than 2000 frames per second. Yet in all the past 150 years of photographic history, nobody apparently ever considered imaging lightning in the stereoscopic 3D format. In LIGHTNING 3D the latest camera systems will image lightning faster (up to 30,000 frames per second) and at vastly higher resolutions then has ever been before attempted (up to 5300 horizontal lines of resolution per eye, which exceeds the output of 80% of the 15perf/70mm films released). The viewer will see things no person has ever seen, in a format that no person has ever imaged lightning before at. The quest to solve the worlds greatest mystery will move from the lab to the theater, where scientists will participate in forming new ideas, and making new discoveries Demand Lightning 3D in your city!about Lightning.
